Making River Road Sparkle

By Chris Bernardo

Business owners and visitors of the River Road District are beginning to notice cleaner curbs and sidewalks thanks to the River Road Improvement Project’s new sidewalk maintenance and sweeping program.

“I can’t believe the difference” said Irv Kleinberg, owner of Amber Cycle. “The maintenance crew has been doing a great job.”

The work, which is being performed by American Nursery 1-2 days per week, includes sidewalk sweeping, watering planters, and cleaning debris from curb lines. All watering activities are implemented with a watering can as per local guidelines for drought emergencies.

The maintenance crew was recently provided with bright neon green work vests which feature the artwork from the recently installed River Road pole banners. “The vests really make the guys stand out; they’re nice”, said Russ Sandberg, owner of American Nursery.

Regular maintenance will continue through the end of the summer. For questions regarding the program please contact Don Smartt, Project Director at 201- 797-3442.
