FAIR LAWN - An aging building at 10-16 River Road will be renovated in order to accommodate 5,000 square feet of commercial space, after action this week by the borough's Planning Board.

Plans for the site, which formerly housed an Interstate Glass facility, were scaled down from a two-story building to a one-story structure. The site is within the boundaries of a special improvement district, and Don Smartt, director of the River Road Improvement Corp., said the group's design committee would work with the developers to assure that the design meets the guidelines of the district.

Because River Road is a county road, the county Planning Board must also endorse the plans for the building and adjoining parking area.
