The River Road Improvement Corporation (RRIC) has partnered with ShopRite of Fair Lawn (1717 River Road) to donate $400 in ShopRite gift cards to support the Fair Lawn Food Pantry. The gift certificates will be distributed to local residents in need through the annual Holiday Food Drive. The Food Pantry and the Food and Gift Drive are managed by the Borough of Fair Lawn’s Human Services Department.

Robert Landzettel, RRIC President, and ShopRite of Fair Lawn Assistant Manager, Olga Godinez, prepare to deliver their donation of $400 in ShopRite gift cards to the Fair Lawn Food Pantry.

“On behalf of the River Road District’s business and commercial property owners, we are pleased to contribute to the Fair Lawn Food Pantry and help make the holiday season ahead a happier time for local residents who are experiencing hard times,” stated RRIC President Robert Landzettel. “We extend best wishes to everyone for happy and healthy holidays and our thanks to our partners at ShopRite for helping us make a difference in our community.”

Funded entirely by private donations, the food pantry is utilized on a regular basis by Fair Lawn families who receive a bag of food each week. In the summer, contributions by residents and business owners in Fair Lawn help supply students in need with school supplies through their generous donations. The annual Holiday Food Drive’s goal is to provide a complete Thanksgiving meal to needy families. During the Holiday Gift Drive, items from children’s wish lists are posted in the Fair Lawn Municipal Building where people can pick what they want to purchase to help make the holidays brighter for children in need.

Suggestions for food donations include canned fruit, hot and cold cereal, canned foods including meats and tuna, coffee, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter and jelly, pasta and sauce among other pantry staples. The Food Pantry also accepts grocery store gift cards and monetary donations used to purchase personal products, fresh produce and perishable items.
