Hundreds come out for River Road in Fair Lawn trick-or-treating program
Hundreds of people packed the streets for the River Road Improvement Corporation’s Halloween trick-or-treat event on Oct. 31 on River Road.
Trick-or-treaters of all sizes enjoyed visiting all of the local businesses who participated in giving out candy for this fun, family friendly occasion.
Some people even dressed up their pets so they could share in the fun. Event sponsor, Fair Lawn Animal Hospital and event contributor, Camp Bow Wow conveniently had treats for both people and pets.
For an event such as this, being prepared is key. Although many businesses bought plenty of candy to give out, the number of trick-or-treaters was so large that they still needed to send for more to accommodate all the children who trolled River Road for tasty treats.
Event contributor, Sylvan Learning Center, arrived well prepared for the event, and still required more candy.
“We had 200 water bottles with candy in them. Those were gone in 45 minutes. I went to Walgreens and got two more bags of candy. Those are gone,” Amy Theiss of Sylvan said.
While Theiss waited for her partner to return with more candy, we discussed what Sylvan Learning Center, located at 33-00 Broadway was all about.
“We do tutoring, enrichment programs, SAT prep and we just started a bunch of STEM programs.” STEM Stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math.
Sylvan has partnered with Lego and other companies to expose children to subjects that may not be offered in schools, like: robotics, programming/coding, engineering and math edge courses.
