Districts in Fair Lawn taking part in gift certificate programs
Fair Lawn – From great shopping and dining to top notch personal and professional services, consumers in Fair Lawn’s Broadway and River Road business districts are participating in two popular gift certificate programs to try new stores and restaurants and support longtime favorites.
Broadway Bucks, introduced by the Broadway Improvement Corporation (BIC), and the River Road Improvement Corporation’s (RRIC) River Road District Dollars can be spent on goods and services at participating businesses and restaurants in the respective districts. The organizations, representing local business and commercial property owners, reimburse the participating businesses for the full value of the District Dollars and Broadway Bucks gift certificates redeemed. Individual business owners are reimbursed 50 percent for the gift certificates they donate as well.
The BIC will award 20 winners with a $25 Broadway Bucks gift certificate in four separate drawings in 2014. The most recent drawing was held on July 1. Other drawings will be held on Nov. 1 and Jan. 1, 2015. Broadway businesses like Chicken Galore, Gotham City Diner and Nuts for You have redeemed many gift certificates for appreciative customers. Business owners, in turn, appreciate the extra business and the chance to introduce their products and services to new consumers. There are many other stores and restaurants participating, so it’s recommended that winners inquire at the time of redemption with individual business owners.
The River Road District Dollars, and other gift certificates donated by local businesses, are being awarded on a monthly basis, with online entries accepted each month. Dance a Lot Ballroom Studio (7-19 Fair Lawn Ave.), Dance Education Unlimited (27-15 Fair Lawn Ave.), Empress Diner (13-48 River Road) and Glam Spot NJ (12-45 River Road) have already contributed gift certificates, with other River Road District businesses expected to join in as well.
Georgi Kanev owns Dance a Lot Ballroom Studio on Fair Lawn Avenue in the River Road District with his wife, Adriana Bezmenova. He said District Dollars winner Arline Rifkin of Paramus was happy to redeem her gift certificate for a free dance lesson and had a really good time.
“She told me it was the best prize she had ever won,” Kanev noted. “She said she actually met her husband at a community dance event and looked forward to telling him about the studio so they can enjoy dancing together again.”
RRIC President Bob Landzettel said the District Dollars program has grown over the past few years since its inception because it has proved popular with local business owners and consumers.
“Entering the promotion online is very easy to do, and there are lots of gift certificates involved, plus business owners are attracting new customers, so it is really a win-win situation.”
“Broadway Bucks help local businesses who participate in the program compete with shopping malls, discount outlets and online retailers,” added Bob Beshlian, BIC President. “There are lots of people who appreciate the convenience and recognize the benefits to their community when they shop and dine locally. The gift certificate program is just one more incentive.”
