Cars on display for Rendezvous on River Road in Fair Lawn
July 16 marked the final event in the Late Night Third Thursday event series on River Road hosted by the River Road Improvement Corporation.
Each of the three events not only promoted late night patronage of local businesses, they provided entertainment for attendees with live music, performances by local dance groups and classic car shows.
For the final event, Rendezvous on River Road, the cars truly stole the show. There were more than 20 cars on display.
The most coveted prize of the evening was the Best Vintage Condition award. This particular award has been presented for all of the Late Night Third Thursday events and
was sponsored by Richard and Janice Noorigian, in honor of their father, Jim, who was a classic car enthusiast.
Jim Noorigian owned and operated State Tire and Supply Company on River Road for more than 40 years. During that time, he also indulged in his passion for collecting classic cars. Over time, he had garnered more than 15 cars for his collection. Through the years, he had the cars in his collection making television and movie appearances in “The Godfather” and Woody Allen’s “Sweet and Low Down,” and on “The View,” and “The Today Show.”
Also at Rendezvous on River Road, was Peter Schindo’s military Humvee. The vehicle has appeared in a number of films, including “Salt” and “Alpha House.” It has also appeared in several CBS shows recently, including “Blue Bloods” and “Madam Secretary.”
The next three events are scheduled for River Road starting in September.
