Fair Lawn – The borough is hopeful construction will begin on its first affordable housing facility for seniors in the spring of 2015.

Proposed for the 3.9-acre property behind the CVS on River Road, the 64-unit, two-story building includes between eight and 10 units for the disabled.

The town purchased the site, once belonging to the Hadco/KEM development, for $1.5 million this year, with help from Bergen County United Way (BCUW), a housing development corporation that specializes in special needs and senior housing. BCUW President Tom Toronto expects the project to cost roughly $12 million.
