The Late Night Third Thursday event, Rockin’ River Road, was held in the Chase Bank parking lot at the corner of Fair Lawn Avenue and River Road on June 18.

When asked about the success of the event, River Road Improvement Corporation Board Member John Melissas said, “Despite the weather (threat of rain), it was a nice event. There was a good turnout and we saw more people walking up and down River Road, which was great.”

The second in a series of three themed events, Rockin’ River Road featured live entertainment by The Powertones, who played an eclectic mix of rock n’ roll classics by the likes of Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash and other popular artists of the era.

In addition to the band, Dance A Lot Ballroom Studio had students perform three numbers for the crowd. They were then followed by their instructors, who treated everyone to an exhibition of their talents.

For a more fitness-oriented dance number, the team at DANCetc. showed the crowd just some of the things they can do with a couple of Zumba routines.

Also present for the competition was Gary DeStefano and his wife, Lisa, of Fair Lawn. DeStefano was presented with the award for A Cool Ride by Dance A Lot Ballroom Studio.

“It was an honor and a privilege to have won the Cool Ride trophy,” he said. “My wife, Lisa, and I live in Fair Lawn, and I can honestly say it was one of the best shows we’ve been to in a long time. We can’t wait to go to the next car show in July.”

The next and final event in this series, Rendezvous on River Road, will take place on July 16.
