First time female Classic Car Show winner!
Fair Lawn - October 2007
On Sunday, October 21, Fair Lawn residents, business owners, and visitors revved up their engines at the annual River Road Improvement Corporation's (RRIC) Classic Car Show, and welcomed a first time female trophy winner. In the category of "Most Awesome", selected by the participating car owners, Joyce Finlyson drove her manual steering 1964 GTO Pontiac, all the way from Paramus and won her first very own trophy.
Other trophy winners were Bob Nightingale -1965 Cobra selected for "A Cool Ride" by RRIC Board of Trustees and Jack Price - 1956 Chevy Convertible for Best Overall, selected by Mayor Steve Weinstein. Winners received an extra surprise with a $50 dinning certificate from either Rivara's or Davia's restaurant. "It was a pleasure to surprise our participants with more than trophies this year," says Bob Landzettel, RRIC Chairman who organized the participation the donated certificates from the restaurant owners. In addition, all 28 participants received $15 gift cards from Friendly's and Dunkin Donuts.
Trophies, gift cards and dining certificates were not the only surprises to this 5 th annual RRIC car show. Our sponsors' participation and generous support added to the excitement for those visiting the show. Tribal Iron Custom Choppers' distinctive display of unusual bikes ( www.tribalironcustoms.com ) attracted many viewers. A&T Healthcare of NJ ( www.at-healthcare.com ), sitting right next to the show, provided RRIC an opportunity to introduce them to the Fair Lawn community as they recently moved to 19-21 Fair Lawn Avenue. Both of which deserve our thanks and appreciation for helping keep the event on track with their generous support.
The River Road Improvement Corporation works on behalf of all those who live, work, or invest in the River Road District. Our goals are to foster the district's economic development, encourage revitalization, and strengthen the economic and commercial contributions to the residents and property owners of the Borough of Fair Lawn.
The Fair Lawn Chamber of Commerce River Road Street Fair and its Classic Car Show are two more classic examples of what cooperation and dedication can accomplish. It's always been a community effort-and as we've seen over the last few years, this community is driven to succeed.
