When Nancy Dykstra-Powers, Director of Bethany Christian Services of New Jersey, was looking for a location for her growing business in 2006, she was drawn to River Road by its convenience and easy access to major roads connecting Fair Lawn to communities in both Bergen and Passaic Counties. With staff members commuting from those areas and a client base from throughout the region, the River Road District provided a strategic and convenient location for all.
As a business person, Nancy also appreciates the many support services the district provides, and became a recipient of an RRIC Sign & Awning Grant that helped make her business look even more attractive, professional and inviting.
Founded in 1944, Bethany is a not-for-profit Christian adoption and family services agency with over 75 locations nationwide, including two in New Jersey. Bethany is well known as an adoption agency, but also extends Christian care and counseling to people struggling with unplanned pregnancies, infertility, and a multitude of other challenges. For more than sixty years, Bethany has responded with compassion, integrity, and commitment to the needs of children and families.
Nancy was also familiar with the warmth and friendliness of the community’s people because of other personal connections to Fair Lawn. Her grandparents were longtime residents, and her father worked for Kuiken Brothers in town for 65 years!
