Rivara’s ownership represents the 3rd generation of restaurateurs in this family. Current owners, Victor and Frank are brothers and can trace their family heritage in the business dating back to 1916 when their grandfather operated the Victor Hotel in Hoboken. In 1955 The Maywood Inn opened and was operated by Victor and Frank’s father, Victor. It is currently owned and operated by their younger brother David.

Today Rivara’s, offers a unique entertainment service bringing Broadway plays, dinner and transportation to customers in a package form for one price. All shows are served with a four (4) course dinner, orchestra or first mezzanine seating. A calendar of shows and departure dates are available online at www.Rivaras.com. 

The restaurant features American Cuisine specializing in baby back ribs and homemade Maryland crab cakes. Catering services are offered on and off the premise and the "Rivara’s Skylight Room,” an elegant private banquet room, is available for up to 125 people. The owners have designed Rivara's Wedding and Shower Plan and Rivara's Gourmet Wedding Banquet Menu for the special wedding occasions.

For 32 years Rivara’s has enjoyed phenomenal success, primarily as a popular club, The Owl and I, with a wide range of live and disco music. In 1988 a major renovation was undertaken along with a new name, Rivara's Grill House.

Although neither Frank nor Victor currently live in Fair Lawn, Victor did reside here for a few years in the 1970’s and they currently have family members in Fair Lawn.

Victor noted their reasons for choosing and staying in the River Road District is because of the camaraderie within the community and feels RRIC is helping to promote the district.
