Fair Lawn Foto Professor has been a retail presence on River Road since 1977, and as its name suggests, the store sells photographic services and supplies. But that’s just one small part of what this business has to offer.
New owner Peter Karasik took over the store just 7 months ago and has widely expanded its range and assortment of products and services. Besides film developing and sales, he is a Western Union agent and does a lively business in gifts, jewelry, and souvenirs. He has an extensive inventory of Russian books, CDs and DVDs, and this makes Fair Lawn Foto Professor a favorite source of entertainment media for the Borough’s growing population of Russian-speaking residents.
Peter’s past retail management experience of both large and small stores has taught him to recognize the needs of his customers and give them what they want. After working in the management of locally popular B&B International Foods for several years, he seized the opportunity to open his own business when the Foto Professor became available.
Peter recognizes that “River Road is a fast growing street in popularity among consumers, and relative to my business, for Russian speaking customers.” He likes the activity of the River Road district, which is beneficial to retailers and customers alike.
Peter is a supporter of the River Road Improvement District and has continued the previous owner’s tradition of providing assistance in the various District holiday photo events.
