FAIR LAWN - The River Road Improvement District will receive $85,000 to improve the facades of buildings there, also part of the Community Development Block grants.

Community Development Block Grants will help the borough buy a new minibus for use by seniors and put an addition on a firehouse, Mayor David Ganz announced this week.

The grants are funded by the federal government and administered by the Bergen County freeholders. Fair Lawn will receive $40,000 toward the purchase of the minibus and $95,000 for the addition at Firehouse No. 2 on Route 208.

Last year Fair Lawn received $38,000 for the Senior Citizens center and $25,000 to make curbs in the borough barrier-free, said Joanne Kwasniewski, borough manager.
